Ecodesign rules issued for chargers and USB-C cables
A new communique sets ecodesign requirements for external power supplies, wireless chargers and USB Type-C cables. Most provisions apply from 14 December 2028.
The Ministry of Industry and Technology published an ecodesign communique (SGM-2026/7) in the Official Gazette on 16 October 2026. It covers external power supplies, wireless chargers and charging pads, battery chargers and USB Type-C cables, and follows EU 2025/2052.
It repeals the 2020 communique on external power supplies. Most provisions apply from 14 December 2028, with longer transition periods for spare-part power supplies and USB-PD units above 100 W.
